I was born in the same Dartford hospital as Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, which probably explains why I was born with a love of Blues and Rock n'Roll!
I was bred on BBC Radio One pop by day, and the John Peel Show (alternative rock and punk) at night. Those were also years of laughter fueled by Monty Python. I was raised on the road. Always moving; Epsom, Norwich, Durham, Hackney, Houston, Stavanger, Lagos Nigeria, Grimaud, Kensington, Aberdeen, Durris, Ho Chi Minh City and back to Stavanger. I'm now at the end of the road, in Santa Barbara CA, and I've nailed my walking shoes to the bedroom floor. I taught myself to play the guitar, bass and piano as a teenager growing up in Epsom and Dartford during the early 70s. I played with, and learnt from, a number of school friends, culminating in two creative years playing covers and composing unique prog-folk-rock songs with Mick Taylor (as you can see from the above photo, he's not the Mick Taylor of the Rolling Stones!). I occasionally play Sax and harmonica. |
What motivates me? I love the magical experience of creating and recording a new song out of thin air, as well as the challenge of writing lyrics that tell an interesting story within the tight confines of a ‘3 minute’ song.
I’m not seeking fame. I’ll be very happy if you listen to my songs and tell your friends about them. I’ll be overjoyed if you try to play it or sing them yourself!
So turn on, tune in, give my stuff a spin, and prepare yourself for some surprises and laughs along the way!
